Iran finds 30 new micro-organisms

Researchers at National Center of Genetics and Biological Reserves of Iran have managed to introduce 30 types of new micro-organisms, while Iran has only discovered 8 new types over last three decades
"Micro-organisms discovered over last four years belong to diverse groups of bacteria, archaea and yeasts. They can be widely used in biotechnology, foodstuff, medicine, agriculture and environment," said Director of center, Abolhassan Shahzadeh-Fazeli.

Finding new types of microorganisms has brought new opportunities for making products.

The center is also providing services for China, Germany, Japan, Spain, New Zealand and Algeria.

Fazeli further noted that some 3000 microorganisms have been gathered in the center, 1000 of which have been completely discovered.
